Here are a few ideas for exploring the area. We promise we’ll organize group outings, but here’s a little something to whet your appetite!

Orava Castle

30-minute drive

Perched on its rock, Orava Castle is one of Slovakia’s many castles (the country with the highest density of castles per capita, according to Katka!). If you want to snap some Instagram-worthy photos and visit a castle other than the Bastille in your lifetime, it’s definitely worth the detour!

Veľký Rozsutec

10-minute drive

The legendary peak of the Little Fatra Mountains, also known as “The Center of the World.” A fantastic hike that ends with a climb up the cliffs—pure joy and a magical view guaranteed at the summit!

Orava Skansen – Zuberec

1-hour drive

Step back in time at this open-air museum to discover how Slovaks in the Orava region lived just a few years ago (not so long ago, after all!) You’ll catch glimpses of it during our weekend in Zazrivá, but it’s a real pleasure to wander through this village frozen in time and discover the history of the inhabitants of mountainous Slovakia.

Jánošík Gorges

10-minute drive

The Jánošik Gorges (Jánošíkové diery) are the perfect spot to cool off in the summer (which works out well, since we’re not getting married in January…). They’re perfect for a leisurely Sunday morning hike after a fun night out!
